Welcome to WPFC Podcasting! This is a weekly look at news and information in and around Pike County! Today is July 4th! The 249th anniversary of our nation’s independence! There is no better guest for today’s program than Tom Morrison. Tom is a retired Social Studies Teacher, Government & History, from Pike Central High School. Tom is a true patriot. He is decorated with the Bronze Star from heroic action under fire. During the Viet Nam War he found himself, and his buddies, in the middle of the Tet Offensive which was a series of coordinated attacks launched by the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong. It changed the war. It changed his life.

Welcome to WPFC Podcasting! This is a weekly look at news and information in and around Pike County! Our heritage of Coal Mining in Pike County is a deep vein. Fact check me, but I think 38% of our geography has been coal mined.  That, in part, is why our 334 square miles of land, only has about 12,500 inhabitants.  Our foot print is larger than that of New York City! One of the coal mines, this one in Jefferson Township, near Cato, the property was gifted by Old Ben Coal, to the Buffalo Trace Council of the Boy Scouts and they built a regional scout retreat.  A few years ago, that property became expendable by the scouts and was purchased by Clint and Michelle Swisher.

Welcome to WPFC Podcasting! This is a weekly look at news and information in and around Pike County! Nestled in the western rolling hills of Clay Township, on the border of Gibson County, is a hidden garden, a forrest preserve, that has brought thousands of visitors to this neighborhood for quite a few years. It is the Azalea Path Botanical Garden and Arboretum, we call it the “The Azalea Path." It’s also the home to the curators, Beverly and Steve Knight.

Welcome to WFPC podcasting! This is only our 2nd podcast, with a new one to be released weekly, however,
If you’ve been around Pike County a while this is WFPC 2.0. Back in the mid 1980’s we had a radio station, and because of economics, it was sold to a larger group in 1999. The world has changed since those early days of WFPC.  Our neighbors have changed, Pike County has changed, people change, roads have changed!  And as you drive in on I-69, at exit 46, you notice this very modern looking blue and whit building. It is the Elmer Buchta Technology Center, which in part houses the Pike County Economic Development Center! Our guest today is the director of that center and her task is to pull all of these moving parts together to help us adapt to some of this changing world, yet keep Pike County the great place and home that it is! Thanks for joining us for this program of WFPC Podcasting!  The program is brought to you by Harris Real Estate and Petersburg Car Wash. Please like the podcast and share with your friends so more people can hear about this project. You may find WFPC podcasting on our website, spotify, Apple podcasts and wherever you listen to your favorite media! Join us next week.  Our scheduled guest is the Director of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Jill Hyneman, and she’s going to explain to us how the chamber is helping to make Pike County an even better place to do business and call home.
